Glendale Depot with Engine at the Door

This photo was taken about 1912.  The locomotive is #2587.  Notice in the 1931 photo, elsewhere, the depot has had skirts added to the ends of the roof.  Locomotives stopped morning and night with passengers trains going each way.  They brought more than the passengers.  The trains brought the mail, the newspapers and many of the goods for Glendale to exist and grow.  The photo below was probably taken from the top of the water tower which can be seen in other panoramic views of Glendale.  The fenced area with the band stand in front of the Clarke Hotel can be seen to your far right.
