Wide Photo of Clarke Hotel, S.P. Depot, and Downtown

This photo shows the railroad yard, including the depot.  The photographer stood on top of the water tower as evidenced in the shadow in the lower left.  The Clarke Hotel is shown including the gardens.  In the distance is the school as shown in other photos.  The large pile of cord wood is for the steam engines.  The structure to the far right with the steeple is the Presbyterian Church.  Thanks to Austin Drake for providing this photo.  His mother, Lorraine Clarke graduated from GHS in 1945 and her mother was Winifred L 'Winnie' Clarke, who married Alfred 'Alfe" Clarke a descendant of the family that built and ran the hotel until it burned in 1919.  Both Winnie and Alfe are buried in our cemetery.
